Let’s address the elephant in the room first, shall we? I’m not actually a monstera, although I’m from the same family of plants. They call me monstera minima because I look like a miniature version of a monstera. My name is Rhaphidophora tetrasperma. I’m a tropical houseplant, but I’m happy to spend my summers outside in a sheltered spot with dappled shade. I’m originally from tropical rainforests where I grow in the humid understory of the rainforest floor. I thrive in moist, bright spots but I don't like direct sunlight. I definitely don't want to live in a very dark or shady room.

  • I taste horrible and I'm toxic, so if I’m eaten you should take your pet to a vet…don’t forget to also take me for identification! If a child eats me you should seek immediate medical advice. I contain sharp crystals which irritate the mouth and digestive tract causing pain and drooling so usually only a small amount is ever eaten.
